We’ve burnt women at the stake, we’ve drilled holes in people’s heads. So much has been done wrong by powerful people in the name of religion. It’s not religion’s fault, it is powerful people’s fault. They will abuse anything you give them. If you replace religion with science or money, rich, old, white people are gonna burn women at the stake, they’re gonna do it for whatever reason, they’re gonna do it because they hate women.

Just came across this guitar cover of Lucie, Too. Whoever you are, you got it spot on. This made me tear up a little, it’s so wonderful to see other people in the world learning guitar lines that I wrote in the middle of the night in Cacie’s basement. Thank you for listening and playing along, love you guys.

Looking back on it, I don’t see how Genny could stand being seen w/ me in public, considering how i dress(ed) and her obsession(interest?) with fashion. Also I don’t see how Lisa could stand how dumb i acted ALL THE TIME. Or why I never even tried to kiss Meredith. Ughh that’s gonna haunt me forever. Some song i heard today triggered these thoughts, but I can’t remember. Hmm

Stop comparing where you’re at with where everyone else is. It doesn’t move you farther ahead, improve your situation, or help you find peace. It just feeds your shame, fuels your feelings of inadequacy, and ultimately, it keeps you stuck. The reality is that there is no one correct path in life. Everyone has their own unique journey. A path that’s right for someone else won’t necessarily be a path that’s right for you. And that’s okay. Your journey isn’t right or wrong, or good or bad. It’s just different. Your life isn’t meant to look like anyone else’s because you aren’t like anyone else. You’re a person all your own with a unique set of goals, obstacles, dreams, and needs. So stop comparing, and start living. You may not have ended up where you intended to go. But trust, for once, that you have ended up where you needed to be. Trust that you are in the right place at the right time. Trust that your life is enough. Trust that you are enough.

When I think about kids watching a TV show like American Idol or The Voice, then they think, ‘Oh, OK, that’s how you become a musician, you stand in line for eight fucking hours with 800 people at a convention center and… then you sing your heart out for someone and then they tell you it’s not fuckin’ good enough.’ Can you imagine?” he implores. “It’s destroying the next generation of musicians! Musicians should go to a yard sale and buy and old fucking drum set and get in their garage and just suck. And get their friends to come in and they’ll suck, too. And then they’ll fucking start playing and they’ll have the best time they’ve ever had in their lives and then all of a sudden they’ll become Nirvana. Because that’s exactly what happened with Nirvana. Just a bunch of guys that had some shitty old instruments and they got together and started playing some noisy-ass shit, and they became the biggest band in the world. That can happen again! You don’t need a fucking computer or the internet or The Voice or American Idol.

Introverts, in contrast, may have strong social skills and enjoy parties and business meetings, but after a while wish they were home in their pajamas. They prefer to devote their social energies to close friends, colleagues, and family. They listen more than they talk, think before they speak, and often feel as if they express themselves better in writing than in conversation. They tend to dislike conflict. Many have a horror of small talk, but enjoy deep discussions.
